Israel, Azerbaijan Sign Multi-Million Dollar Arms Deal

26/09/2008 Israel and Azerbaijan have closed a weapons deal worth hundreds of millions of dollars, Haaretz said.

According to agreements signed by the Defense Ministry and the government of Azerbaijan, which borders on Iran, Israel will sell the southern Caucasus state ammunition, mortars and radio equipment.

A number of Israeli firms were involved in the various deal. Soltam will sell mortars and ammunition to Azerbaijan, Israel Military Industries will sell the country rocket artillery and Tadiran Communications will sell it radio equipment.

Israeli companies have also recently signed deals worth tens of millions of dollars with Kazakhstan, a neighbor of Azerbaijan's.

Minister of National Infrastructures and former defense minister Benjamin Ben-Eliezer has visited Azerbaijan in the past, and has said that the country can serve as a source of oil and gas for Israel.

I dont know what to make of this story. Are Muslim nations dealing with the enemy in this fasion without shame? I can only hope that one day this will have an ironic twist and come back to haunt "israel". Maybe someone out there can share some reason with me over this "deal".

Azerbaijan is blinded! Hopefully they wakeup.

this is not good for Azerbaijan. What happened to their experts? are they blind? havent they seen that the Merkava is nothing but garbage technology? havnt they seen in July War in 2006, how Hezbollah was able to damage 240 Merkavas within three weeks?....are the Azerbaijani gone crazy? .... it is better for them to buy weapons from Russia, or China or Iran. But anyways, that will give the nations around Azerbaijan the opportunity to witness how these weapons function and learn the zionism entity much more. The more we know about the Zionism entity, the more we are able to approach them in much better way. All signs are showing that Usurping Israel is going to fail in next war. In fact, the next war shall be the final one, where the face of the map in the middle east will be changed.
