Syrian PM Riad Hijab Dismissed, Omar Qalaounji Temporal Caretaker
The Syrian Prime Minister Riad Hijab has been sacked after being committed by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to form the latest cabinet in June, the state-run news agency reported Monday.
Hijab cabinet succeeded that of Adel Safar, who had formed his government in April, two months before Hijab came to office.
However, state television said that "Omar Qalaounji has been tasked as a temporal caretaker."
Qalaounji was the Deputy PM for Services Affairs and Minister of Local Administration in Hijab’s cabinet.
Sources told Al-Manar Website that former Syrian PM Riad Hijab “is still in Damascus and has been informed yesterday about his dismissal."
