Yemen mapYemeni lawmakers on Sunday asked President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi to reshuffle the national unity cabinet over what they describe as its failure to solve the country's crises.

"All parliamentary blocs have sent a letter to the president to order a total or partial cabinet reshuffle," MP Shawqi al-Qadi told Anadolu Agency.

"The government has failed to solve problems such as security deterioration, the bombing of oil pipelines and power cables as well as the fuel crisis," he added.

Al-Qadi said that the representatives of all political blocs in parliament had agreed on the need for a government reshuffle.

This is the first time a cabinet reshuffle is being demanded by Yemen's parliament.

Parliament had earlier given the national unity government two weeks to find solutions to the country's rampant fuel shortages and deteriorating security conditions, according to a parliamentary source.

The Arab country has been dogged by turmoil since pro-democracy protests in 2011 forced autocratic president Ali Abdullah Saleh to step down after 33 years in power.
