Munir Maqdah to Al-Manar Website:
Fatah Movement Never Abandoned Resistance

Sleiman’s Message Stronger than Bullet
US Veto Expected… Int’l Community Unjust
UNSC Useless… No Alternative to Resistance
Obama spoke as if Palestinian is Aggressor
Negotiations with Enemy Absurd, Useless
Abu Mazen Might Declare Popular Resistance
Oslo Accord Did Not Fulfill Palestinians’ Will

Fatah commander in Lebanon Munir Maqdah declared that the American veto against the bid to seek membership for the Palestinian state within the United Nations Security Council was expected. He criticized American President Barack Obama who spoke as if the Palestinian was the occupier and aggressor, while the Israeli was the one under occupation. He found strange the double standards adopted by the international community, which backs the occupation and covers its crimes against the Palestinians.

In an exclusive interview with Al-Manar Website, Maqdah said that the Resistance was the only road to liberate the land and restore the rights. He stressed that Fatah movement has never abandoned this choice, and described it as sacred. He said in contrast that negotiations with the Zionist enemy were absurd and useless.

While pointing to the experience of South Lebanon where the Resistance forced the enemy to withdraw from the land, he hailed the message delivered by Lebanese President Michel Sleiman from within the United Nations. He said that President Sleiman’s message was stronger than a bullet.

UNITED NATIONS USELESS
Munir Maqdah told Al-Manar Website that the American veto against the project to seek membership for the Palestinian state within the United Nations Security Council was expected. He said that this veto constituted another proof of the injustice of the so-called international community, which not only backs the occupation but also covers its crimes against the Palestinians.

According to Maqdah, the United Nations and the Security Council were baseless. He emphasized that all resolutions adopted by the UNSC come in the interest of the occupation. He stressed that Palestinians must achieve unity to face the occupation, and hailed the role of the Resistance in liberating the land. He also wondered how a state could be declared if it is based on abandoning more than 80% of Palestine’s historic land.

OBAMA SWITCHED FACTS
Maqdah criticized American President Barack Obama who declared that he would resort to the veto power to reject the aspired Palestinian state. He said that President Obama spoke as if the Palestinian side was the aggressor and the occupier, while the Israeli one was the oppressed one under occupation. He found strange how the American President could switch facts and things in such a flagrant way. He concluded that betting on the United Nations was useless, and called to bet on the resistant Arab nations, hailing in this context the Egyptian new Intifada against the Israeli enemy.

Answering a question about the message behind raising the Palestinian statehood despite all these beliefs, Maqdah said it was a political movement adopted by the Palestinian Authority head Mahmud Abbas (Abu Mazen) to raise the voice, nothing more. He stressed that the US veto was absolutely not surprising, and said that Palestinians perceive that negotiations with the enemy are not the solution as they did nothing throughout more than twenty years.

RESISTANCE CHOICE SACRED
Answering a question about the possible steps to be taken in the upcoming stage, Maqdah said that President Abu Mazen has spoken of a series of possible choices, including the dissolution of the Palestinian Authority and the announcement of the popular resistance, which would lead at the end of the day to the armed resistance, given that this armed resistance is the only way to confront occupation and triumph, amid such an international community which only respects the strong people.

Asked whether he means that Fatah movement decided to return to the resistance option, Maqdah said: “There’s no alternative to this choice. In fact, this choice was never abandoned by Fatah movement. We believe it is a sacred choice.”

While pointing to the experience of South Lebanon where the Resistance imposed new balances and forced the enemy to withdraw from the occupied land, he hailed the message delivered by Lebanese President Michel Sleiman from within the United Nations. He said Sleiman’s message was stronger than the bullet.

PALESTINIAN UNITY… A MUST
Maqdah wished the reactions to the PA President move to go to the UN would be overcome very soon. He stressed that Palestinian unity was a must amid the current circumstances, and noted that Palestinians need to coordinate their stances at such a critical stage in order to put a new strategy to face the occupation.

Asked whether the aspired Palestinian state would have been the solution in case it was recognized, despite the dangers it carries out, Maqdah said that it was nothing but a political movement to keep the Palestinian side in the middle of the international map. He refused the option of re-vivify the negotiations, as it has been proven that they are useless and lead to absolutely nothing. He also said that the Oslo accord did not fulfill the Palestinian people’s ambitions.

PALESTIAN REFUGEES UNSATISFIED
Asked whether these stances actually represent the Fatah movement official position, Maqdah said that he was personally against the Oslo accord and the negotiations with the enemy since 1993. Yet, he added that the Fatah movement has never abandoned the resistance option, hailing it as a sacred choice, saying that the Fatah movement will remain a resistance party.

Concerning the situation in the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon amid this political mobilization, he said that the Palestinian refugees were not satisfied with the developments and were wondering about the fate of the so-called resolution 194 and the right of return. He spoke of a program of protests to be scheduled during the few coming days.
