Hezbollah Condemns Goldstone’s ‘New’ Pro-Israel Remarks

Hezbollah condemns new pro-Israel stances made by international judge Richard Godldstone concerning Israeli war crimes against Gaza

In response to the announcement made by international jurist Richard Goldstone that claims of Israel's Gaza war crimes should be reconsidered, Hezbollah issued a statement in which it vehemently condemned Goldnstone’s pro-Israeli statement.

Writing in a Washington Post column published on Friday, Goldstone claimed that if Israel had cooperated with his United Nations fact-finding commission into the events of Operation Cast Lead, the charges mounted against Israel in the Goldstone Report, including those of alleged war crimes and the intentional targeting of civilians, would have been different. "We know a lot more today about what happened in the Gaza war of 2008-09 than we did when I chaired the fact-finding mission appointed by the UN Human Rights Council that produced what has come to be known as the Goldstone Report," Goldstone wrote. "If I had known then what I know now, the Goldstone Report would have been a different document."

GOLDSTONE OFFERING REWARD TO ENEMY
Hezbollah said that Goldstone’s reconsideration of his previous stances in which he accused the Zionist enemy of committing war crimes during the 2008 Gaza war constitutes a reward to the enemy. “It encourages the Israeli enemy to persist in continuing his crimes against the Palestinian people,” the statement noted, while highlighting the Israeli crimes are taking place in a daily basis throughout the Palestinian territories.

“Goldstone’s article in the Washington Post daily is a frail attempt to make the Zionist entity innocent and therefore not responsible of crimes against humanity it has committed during his aggression against Gaza,” the statement read.

According to the statement, Goldstone is also contributing in helping the Zionist entity to shine its image at the international level and flee away from punition. “This reflects a huge process to mislead the international public opinion and an attempt to pressure the international community to complete its bias at the side of the Zionist enemy,” the statement added.

ISRAEL SEEKS TO ESCALATE CONFLICT WITH PALESTINIANS
The Resistance party also undermined the Israeli leaders’ reactions to Goldstone’s “regret” and warned such remarks would pave the way for them to escalate the crimes against Palestinians.

Following Goldstone's article in which he voiced regret about blaming Israel for the intentional targeting of civilians in the report he authored on the Gaza war, Israeli leaders immediately called on the United Nations and international institutions to cancel the report.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu demanded that the entire report be annulled and assigned National Security Adviser Ya'akov Amidror to set up a joint team of staff from the Foreign, Defense and Justice Ministries with the task of formulating political and legal recommendations following Goldstone's article.

“The enemy’s leaders who saw in Goldstone’s new stances a victory in their continuous war against our Arab and Muslim nation seek to escalate the conflict with the Palestinians and execute more measures which would violate the Palestinian people’s fundamental rights, based on the stances,” Hezbollah’s statement said.

TO ARAB LEADERS: PERCEIVE THE MESSAGE!
Hezbollah concluded its statement by vehemently condemning the pro-Israel stances made by Goldstone. It urged the Arab government to perceive that fundamental rights may be rejected by judges and legal experts who would look after their personal interests instead of justice and rightness.
