Maqet to Al-Manar: Resistance Is the Nation’s Only Option
Local Editor

Sedqi al-MaqetDean of Syrian prisoners in the Zionist jails, Sedqi al-Maqet, has been released Wednesday after 27 years he spent behind bars.

The 27 years of prison didn’t change Maqet’s beliefs of resisting the occupation, as he stressed upon leaving prison that the option of Resistance is the only way to liberate the land from occupation.

Speaking to Al-Manar TV, Maqet recalled the May 2000 and July 2006 victories of the Lebanese Resistance against the Zionist killing machine, saying that he was following on all those developments during his prison period.

He further saluted Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, stressing that "we are the soldiers of this great leader and standing under his leadership.”

The released prisoner also saluted the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, the Syrian people and the Syrian national army “who is facing conspiracies and fighting the same as in 1973,” Maqet said.

“Our army will achieve victory today just like it achieved it during the 1973 war,” he stated.

Sedqi al-Maqet, 45, had been arrested by the Zionist authorities of occupation in August 1985 on the charge of establishing “The Secret Resistance Movement of Golan.”
