Iran, Syria Sign 5 MoUs, Plan to Increase Economic Ties to $5 billion

Five memoranda of understanding, planned to be implemented during 2011 and 2012, had been signed by Iranian and Syrian officials on Friday in Tehran

Five memoranda of understanding, planned to be implemented during 2011 and 2012, had been signed by Iranian and Syrian officials on Friday in Tehran.

Iranian Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar and Syrian Housing and Development Minister Omar Ebrahim Qalavanji signed an executive cooperation program for 2011 and 2012.

Iranian Commerce Minister Mehdi Ghazanfari and Syrian Economy Minister Lamia Marei Assi signed a memorandum of understanding on behalf of Iran's Trade Development Organization and Syria's Export Development Organization.

Meanwhile, Iran's Housing Minister Ali Nikzad and Syrian Education Minister Ali Sa'ad signed an executive cooperation program on youth affairs on behalf of Iran's Youth Organization and Syrian Revolutionary Youth Association.

Iranian Housing Minister Ali Nikzad and Syrian Housing and Development Minister also signed an executive cooperation program on housing and development affairs.

Iran's First Vice-President Mohammad Reza Rahimi and Syrian Prime Minister Muhammad Naji Otri signed a memorandum of understanding for the 13th meeting of Iran-Syria joint cooperation committee.
Rahimi said Iran and Syria intend to increase the value of their economic ties to $5 billion.
