Iranian President Mahmoud AhmadinejadIranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Saturday that democracy could not be established through guns, wars or massacres.

"When western enemies and some of their supporters in the region, who are aliens to democracy, are seen speaking about democracy in Syria, the falsehood of their claims becomes evident to all," said Ahmadinejad in a meeting with the new Syrian ambassador to Tehran.

"Undoubtedly, victory belongs to nations and a worse future waits for enemies of nations no matter how difficult conditions are. By the grace of God, both Iranian and Syrian nations along with all other independent and freedom nations in the world would attain dignity and true prosperity," the Iranian President added.

He stated that experience has shown that western enemies are merely after their own goals and those following them today should know that a good destiny does not await them.

Moreover, Ahmdinejad stressed the need for efforts to stop war and restore security and calm in Syria, noting that “those feeling pity for Syria should help with this process."
