Israel Escalating in Gaza: Strike Martyrs 2 Hamas Fighters

Two Hamas resistance fighters were martyred on Friday in a new Israeli air strike near the city of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza

Two Hamas resistance fighters were martyred on Friday in a new Israeli air strike near the city of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza after they called a truce, following a day of bloody confrontations with the Israeli occupation.

The latest bloodshed came after violent confrontations which were sparked on Thursday afternoon when Israel launched more than a dozen strikes on targets across the enclave which martyred five people and wounded many more, prompting Gaza's Hamas leaders to hurriedly announce a fresh truce.

"This situation will be contained," Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said late Thursday. "We will not shy away from taking all necessary action, offensive and defensive, to protect our country and its citizens."

The strike hit Khuza'a, an area near the border which lies east of Khan Yunis, and killed two fighters from the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, the group said in a statement. It named the martyrs as Abdallah al-Qarra and Muataz Abu Jamea.
