Reuters news agency reported the event, saying it took place after two months of harsh battles.

The agency quoted opposition sources as saying that the move is likely to result in Syrian Amry’s regaining control of an international transit route.

The fall of Khirbet Ghazaleh, situated in the Hauran Plain on the highway to Jordan is seen as an achievement by the government forces.

According to the opposition sources, some 1,000 militants withdrew from the town after they lost hope that aids would come from Jordan.

The sources also said that the Syrian Army’s success in the area has raised resentment among militants over what they consider as lack of support from Jordan in their fight against the Syrian government forces.
