Prominent Iranian politicians and clerics have led mourner s at the funeral in Tehran, with Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi condemned the killing as a "terrorist act".

Khoshnevi was martyred on Tuesday after being under attack from insurgents as he was on his way from Syria to Lebanon.

At the Iranian Embassy in Beirut, Iranian ambassador Ghazanfar Roknabadi praised Khosnevis , saying he “served the oppressed, supporting the resistance to Israel.”
"Assassinating this dear martyr is a clear sign that the Zionist enemy does not accept his successful work,” Roknabadi told reporters as he received condolences from senior Lebanese officials.

Khosnevis was the head of the Iranian Committee for Reconstruction of Lebanon, which was established following the brutal Israeli offensive against Lebanon in July 2006.
