Turkish Jets Pound PKK Bases in Northern Iraq

Turkish fighter jets have pounded several suspected Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) bases in northern Iraq.

Eight F-16 fighter jets took off from Diyarbakir Airbase around 11:45 p.m. local time (2145 GMT) on Wednesday. They bombed PKK camps and targets in the Qandil and Zap regions of northern Iraq, English-language daily Today’s Zaman reported on Thursday.

No casualties were reported following the airstrikes.

The operations were launched after intelligence collected by Turkish military drones showed the presence of PKK members in the areas.
