The National News Agency reported that the Lebanese army and security forces heavily deployed in the streets and squares of the northern city of Tripoli on Thursday but that a boy was killed and two Lebanese army soldiers were wounded in the clashes.

Lebanese army in TripoliSporadic shooting was heard on the Syria Street which separates Tripoli’s rival neighborhoods of Jabal Mohsen and Bab al-Tabbaneh in addition to the sound of exploding rocket-propelled grenades that was also heard in the area, the report said. The NNA also noted that the child Abdul Hamid Mohammad Hamad was killed in the clashes in the north.

The army also erected several checkpoints and conducted mechanized patrols, the report indicated adding that since 1 p.m. on Thursday, the city has not witnessed any gunfire shooting or sniping.
