Hezbollah official Sheikh Nabil Qawouk said on Monday that there are groups in Lebanon smuggling arms and fighters between Lebanon and Syria.

“There are (factions) in Lebanon that want to create a safe passage for armed individuals and not for (Syrian) refugees,” the National News Agency quoted him as saying.

Qawouk added that these factions “are now part of the war on Syria, supported by the American embassy.”

He also slammed some Arab countries for providing financial support for dissidents in Syria.

“Arab money is now fueling conflict and the fire burning in Syria,” Qawouk said, adding that “the smell of petrol is coming out of the fires that are ravaging Syria.”
