Iranian Embassy Press Attaché Leva'a Roudbari denied in an interview with Syria's official TV network on Friday allegations that kidnapped Iranian engineers in Syria were military men, but reports floated on possibility they're moved to North Lebanon.

 “The kidnappers’ claims are baseless; Iran welcomes the kidnappers’ decision to free two of the kidnapped engineers,” Roudbari added.

The official referred to the kidnapped engineer’s services to the Syrian nation and asked for their immediate release. “Iran’s policy is the immediate stop of violations in Syria and constructive negotiation between different groups,” the Iranian embassy's press attaché underlined, as quoted by IRNA.

A group of armed Syria opposition has released a video showing seven Iranians kidnapped in Homs claiming that they are Iranian military personnel.

Al-Jazeera satellite channel broadcast a footage purportedly showing five of seven Iranians abducted by Syrian armed opposition in the besieged central city of Homs. A Syrian rebel who gave his name as Abu Bassem claimed that five of the men were allegedly Iranian revolutionary guard soldiers.

An informed source in Lebanon said the five Iranian engineers have been relocated to northern Lebanon, Press TV reported. A tribal figure in northern Lebanon, speaking on condition of anonymity, made the revelation to a Press TV correspondent on Friday.

On December 21, five Iranian electrical engineers were kidnapped on their way to a power plant in the troubled Syrian city of Homs by unknown gunmen. Later, two other Iranians, who were trying to obtain information about the missing men, were also kidnapped, and their whereabouts are still unknown.

Kidnap of visitors aims to press Iran

In another development, an armed terrorist group on Thursday kidnapped 11 Iranian visitors who were on their way from Aleppo to Damascus.

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said the Iranians were on their way to visit the holy religious places in Damascus when an armed group kidnapped them.

Senior Iranian lawmaker Alaeddin Boroujerdi described the abduction of Iranian visitors as a measure to exert pressure on the Islamic Republic, emphasizing that Iran will shore up efforts to secure the release of the abductees.
