Bahraini Youth Pinned under Police Car which Ran over Him

16-year-old Ali Bagdar martyred when a police car ran over him during a protest in Manama

In the early hours of Saturday morning, a 16-year-old Bahraini teen was martyred when a police car ran over him during a protest in Manama.

Ali Youssef Bagdar, from Sitra, died at the scene due to injuries sustained after being pinned under the police car before it crashed into a wall.

Authorities said the driver lost control after hitting a patch of oil in the narrow village street. Protesters assured that the police car intentionally attempted to run them over.

Hundreds of mourners gathered in Bahrain for the funeral of the young martyr. The protester’s uncle told The Associated Press his nephew died after a police vehicle ran him over in the Juffair area of the capital Manama. The uncle, Ibrahim Ali Bagdar, said he rushed to the area with the boy’s father, but police cordoned the site off and would not let anybody approach.

“Our boy was dead and they left him laying on the street for hours,” the uncle said before his nephew’s funeral.
