Al-Moallem Sends Letters to FMs on US Involvement in Syria Bloody Events

Syrian Foreign Minister sent letters to FMs informing them that Syria was surprised by the US Department of State’s spokeswoman statement calling upon gunmen not to hand over their weapons to the Syrian government

Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem sent letters to Foreign Ministers informing them that, “after the Syrian Arab Republic took an important step to stop violence by calling upon armed men to hand down their weapons and get released soon, Syria was surprised by the statement of the US Department of State's spokeswoman calling upon the gunmen not to hand over their weapons to the Syrian government.”

According to SANA news agency, the letters were sent to FMs of Russia, China, India, South Africa, Brazil, and chairman and members of the Arab Ministerial Committees, the Arab League Secretary General, the UN Secretary General, and President of the UN Security Council.

Al-Moallem added that Syria sees the US call as a direct involvement in the sedition and violence in Syria which caused the Syrian army, police and civilians to lose innocent victims.

In his letters, al-Moallem said that Syria considers the US call an encouragement to the armed groups to continue their criminal acts against the Syrian people and state, which negates the claims of peaceful protests and show a desire to obstruct the initiative and efforts of the Arab League which are aimed at putting an end to the Syrian crisis and restoring security and stability.

Al-Moallem briefed the foreign ministers that the Syrian government has reacted positively to the AL initiative and is exerting efforts to implement it, hoping they would be informed of the US involvement in the bloody events in Syria and condemn it, and exert every effort to put an end to them and help the Syrian government provide the appropriate climate for implementing the agreement between Syria and the Arab League.
