Russia’s center for reconciliation of the warring parties in Syria calls to impose ceasefire in two Syrian districts for a period of three days, the center’s chief, Lieutenant General Sergey Kuralenko, said on Monday.

"In the interests of stabilization of the situation, the Russian reconciliation center calls to impose a 72-hours regime of silence in Eastern Ghouta and Darayya starting from 00:01 a.m. on May 24, 2016," he told journalists.Russia’s center for reconciliation

"We urge all parties concerned to stop offensive operations, shooting and move away from areas controlled by Nusra Front as the Russian air group will continue air strikes against it," he said.

A ceasefire regime brokered by Russia and the United States on February 22 officially came into effect in Syria at midnight Damascus time on February 27.

This does not cover Takfiri terrorist groups such as ISIL and Nusra Front, both outlawed in Russia, and other groups recognized as terrorist by the United Nations Security Council.

An hour before the ceasefire came into force, the United Nations Security Council adopted a resolution in support cessation of hostilities in Syria.

The document was initiated by Russia and the United States and won support from all the 15 members of the United Nations Security Council.
