In a statement, the Syrian army General Command said it was "normal that the Russian and Syrian leaderships agreed on decreasing the number of Syrian forces in Syria in an adequate way with the current developments and following the achievements secured by our armed forces and our Russian comrades."

Meanwhile, the Syrian army praised the Russian role in fighting terrorism, stressing that operations against Takfiri groups like Nusra Front and ISIL will proceed in a bid to  wipe out terrorism.
