Turkey, China Form High-level Cooperation Council

Turkey and China have established a cooperation council to develop relations in the fields of politics, economics, trade, security, and tourism.

Turkey: Mehmet SimsekTurkey and China have established a cooperation council to develop relations in the fields of politics, economics, trade, security, and tourism, with the Turkish co-chair expected to appear at a G20 meeting in Shanghai on Friday.

Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Simsek - in charge of Turkish Economic Affairs - is scheduled to attend the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting in Shanghai from Feb. 25 - 27.

A source in Turkey's government said that topics on the agenda of the meeting include the global economy, a framework for strong, sustainable and balanced growth, investment and infrastructure, international financial architecture, financial regulations, international tax, the financing of and the fight against terrorism, and green finance and climate change.

During the trip, Simsek is also set to meet his Chinese counterpart, Vice Premier Wang Yang in Beijing, on Sunday, with bilateral relations, developments in China's economy and its global ramifications expected to be on the agenda.
