Egypt: Israel Apology Not Enough

The Egyptian government considered that the “Israeli apology” over the killing of five of its soldiers on the borders was not enough.

The Egyptian government considered that the “Israeli apology” over the killing of five of its soldiers on the borders was not enough.

In a statement it issued Sunday in response to Israel’s “regret” for the attack it executed on the Egyptian-occupied Palestinian borders, the Egyptian government reassured that “the apology statement and the Israeli regret are not enough seeing the weight of the accident.”

“We are expressing the will of the Egyptian people who are outraged from the Egyptian territories… the Israeli statement was not enough, seeing the weight of the accident and the Egyptian outrage from the Israeli acts,” the statement said.
The Egyptian government further approved conducting joint investigation over the accident stressing that “the Egyptian blood is not cheap, and the government will not let this bloodshed be in vein.”

In conclusion, the government demanded specifying a precise time limit for the end of the investigations.
This comes, as thousands of Egyptians have been protesting in Cairo, and other regions against the presence of the Zionist ambassador in their country.

The mass protests further witnessed raising the Egyptian flag instead of the Israeli flag over the Israeli embassy, as eyewitnesses have said that “a 22-years-old Egyptian climbed the embassy building removed the Israeli flag and put the Egyptian flag instead”.

They further pointed out that the protestors tore the Israeli flag and burned it, while chanting slogans against Israel like “get out… come on, or don’t you understand” in reference to the Israeli ambassador in Egypt, and “Those have killed me, those have slaughtered me, remove this Zionist flag”.
