Most of Latakia’s northern countryside is now in the hands of the Syrian army, field sources told al-Manar.

The sources said that the insurgents now control only 190 km2 out of 750 km2 seized by the terrorists since the Syrian crisis erupted in 2011.

The 190 km2 also include the border with Turkey which is 15 km2 long, the sources added.Syrian army soldiers

The Syrian army and the popular defense forces have been intensifying military operations against the Takfiri terrorists in Latakia countryside, with the strategic towns of Salma and Rabiha fell into the hands of the allied forces in these two weeks.

Takfiri terrorists in Latakia include the al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front and the so-called Jaish al- al-Fatah (the Army of Conquest).
