Russian Defense Ministry announced on Tuesday that the Russian Air Force hit 86 targets of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorists in Raqqa, Hama, Idleb, Lattakia and Aleppo during the past 24 hours.

Russian strikesThe spokesperson for the Ministry Igor Konashenkov said Su-34, Su-24M and Su-25SM warplanes carried out 88 sorties against 86 terrorist infrastructure targets.

The strikes, he added, destroyed command posts, ammunition and armament depots, vehicles, and plants for making explosives, field camps and terrorists’ bases.

Su-24M bombers also targeted an ISIL field headquarters near the city of Anadan in the province of Aleppo from which the terrorists coordinated their activities. There was an ammunition depot at the site, the ministry said.

One more ISIL field post was destroyed near the city of al-Bab in Aleppo Province.

“Russian airstrikes resulted in the elimination of the majority of ISIS ammunition, heavy vehicles and equipment,” the Defense Ministry tweeted.

On September 30, the Russian government launched its anti-ISIL military operation in Syria at the request of the Syrian government after US-led coalition attempts to allegedly eliminate the terrorist group resulted in failure.
