Abdollahian: Iran Insists on Dispatch of all Dead Pilgrims Bodies

Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs announced that Iran is following up the dispatch of the bodies of the dead Iranian pilgrims to the country, and said the Islamic Republic is insisting on sending all corpses.

Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs announced that Iran is following up the dispatch of the bodies of the dead Iranian pilgrims to the country, and said the Islamic Republic is insisting on sending all corpses.

“Iran emphasizes on transfer of all victims of the Mina tragedy and the follow-ups in this regard are continuing,” Hossein Amir Abdollahian said on Wednesday.

Abdollahian’s remarks came as Health Minister Sayyed Hassan Qazizadeh said that Saudi Arabia has agreed to expedite the dispatch of the bodies of the Iranian pilgrims who were killed in a Hajj stampede in Mina, Mecca.

“The condolences of the Saudi king and board of minister was extended by Saudi health minister in today's meeting and Saudi Arabia agreed to expedite the dispatch of the bodies of the deceased Iranians,” Qazizadeh said in Mecca.

He noted that following up the issue of the missing pilgrims and transferring the bodies of the deceased pilgrims as well as transfer of the injured to Iran tops his agenda in Saudi Arabia.

“We also made sure that no Iranian pilgrim will be buried without the consent of his/her family and also the Iranian government,” Qazizadeh added.

He noted that the Iranian delegation held a three-hour session with senior officials of five Saudi ministries and some army generals, and said, “We were trying to make our legal demands bear result.”
