Israeli occupation troops shot dead a Palestinian near the city of Jenin in the northern West Bank on Wednesday during an arrest raid, medical and security sources said.

Mohammed Alawneh, 22, was martyred in clashes that followed the raid by occupation soldiers in the village of Birqin, west of Jenin, the Palestinian sources said.

IOF in West BankAlawneh was shot in the chest and died shortly after arriving at hospital in Jenin, AFP news agency quoted the medical source as saying.

During the clashes, occupation forces fired tear-gas canisters and stun grenades, as well as live rounds, Maan news agency reported.

Sources added that Israeli forces detained journalist Muhammad Ali Atiq during the raid.

Israeli forces also detained Yasser Ghaleb Abu Jaafar from Jenin city after raiding his family home.

Since the beginning of 2014, Israeli forces have injured an average of 35 Palestinians every week.

Israeli settlers, including those living in occupied East Jerusalem, have carried out a further two weekly attacks on Palestinians, and an average of four incidents of damage to Palestinian property every week.
