Salam Meets Egyptian Counterpart, Arab League Secretary General in Cairo

SalamPM Tammam Salam stressed the significance of putting a visionary towards the regional situation to face the challenges resulting from it, considering the issue of terrorism as "a big obsession that should be confronted by anchoring moderation in the region."

Salam on Wednesday met with his Egyptian counterpart Ibrahim Mahlab whereby both underscored the necessity "to coordinate together to confront and defeat terrorism."

Both also stressed the necessity to support mutual investments.

Salam visits Arab league, pushes for Arab cohesion

Prime Minister, Tammam Salam, said on Wednesday that Arabs today were in need of more unity and cohesion facing looming challenges.

In the wake of a meeting with Arab League Secretary General, Dr. Nabil Elaraby, at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo, Salam stressed that a united stance would be the best way out of today's Arab quandaries.

"We're hoping that a unanimous Arab word and stance, under the command of Dr. Elaraby, would be the normal route towards a solution to the crises that surround us," Salam said, highlighting Lebanon's historical and founding role within the Arab league.

In turn, Elaraby lauded Premiere Salam's efforts leading Lebanon amid the prevailing crucial circumstances.

"Lebanon has always had its special case. We hope it manages to smoothly surpass this stage and be able to reach comfort, stability, and prosperity," Elaraby added.

It is to note that the Prime Minister winded up his official visit to the Egyptian capital with an official meeting with Pope Twadharos II of Alexandria.
