Abadi Starts His Meetings with Senior Officials in Tehran

The Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar Abadi arrived on Wednesday in Tehran and started his meetings with the Iranian senior officials.

According to IRNA, Abadi met the First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri who called for Iran-Iraq joint campaign against the terrorist and violent moves of ISIL in Iraq and Syria.
 
"We should through cooperation and with a single stance confront the terrorist and violent moves of ISIL in Iraq and Syria," Jahangiri told Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi.

He said Iran and Iraq are determined to promote ties and create new grounds for mutual cooperation.

He went on to say, "The Islamic Republic of Iran seeks all-out expansion of ties and interaction with Iraq, given the historical and cultural commonalties between the two countries."

The Iranian official said the Islamic Republic of Iran has always sided with the Iraqi nation and government, strongly defending and supporting peace, stability and progress in the friendly and brotherly country of Iraq.

He emphasized that both Iran and Iraq are serious in removing impediments on the way of mutual cooperation.

The Iraqi PM, for his part, said his current Iran visit is the second one in less than one year since the Iraqi government came to power.

He said the aim of the visit is all-out expansion of bilateral relations.

The Iraqi prime minister urged elimination of all impediments to expansion of bilateral cooperation and relations.

He said both Iran and Iraq can complete each other's relations at regional and international levels, thus strengthening their role in the region and the world.

He said Iran and Iraq should form a united front for campaign against terrorism.

The Iranian Vice-President and Iraqi Prime Minister told the joint meeting of their senior officials that constant exchange of visits by Iranian and Iraqi delegates indicates the friendship and close ties between Tehran and Baghdad.

Jahangiri and al-Abadi also discussed issues of mutual interest for expansion of ties and creation of new grounds for cooperation.

The First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri on Wednesday officially welcomed Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi at Saadabad Cultural and Historical Complex.
