Lebanese army intelligence unit arrested an Arsal resident over links to terrorist attacks which took place in several areas across Lebanon last year.

Sources told al-Manar that intelligence unit managed to arrest Ahmad Abdullah al-Atrash (his mom’s name is Khadijah) in the outskirts of Arsal on Thursday, adding that he is suspected of preparing for and being involved in terrorist attacks.

Al-Atrash is well known as “Nisr Arsal” (Eagle of Arsal), the sources said, noting that preliminary investigations indicate that he has been operating for several Takfiri groups.

Media meanwhile, reported that al-Atrash is behind Hermel bombing which took place in January 2014.

A series of terrorist bombings hit several areas in Beirut's southern suburb (Dahiyeh) and Bekaa in the years of 2013 and 2014. Scores of innocent civilians were martyred by the attacks perpetrated by Takfiri suicide bombers.
