Rouhani: Iran Will Sign Nuclear Deal only if Sanctions Lifted on ’Same Day’

President Hasan Rouhani said Iran wants international sanctions lifted on the day of the implementation of an agreement with world powers on its nuclear program.

President Hasan Rouhani said Iran wants international sanctions lifted on the day of the implementation of an agreement with world powers on its nuclear program.

"We will not sign any agreements unless on the first day of the implementation of the deal all economic sanctions are totally lifted on the same day," Rouhani said on Thursday.Sheikh Hasan Rouhani and head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali-Akbar Salehi

During a ceremony in northern Tehran to mark the 9th National Nuclear Technology Day, Rouhani congratulated Iranians on the occasion.

“Today is an auspicious day for the great Iranian nation in the path of the development of science and knowledge as well as progress,” said the Iranian president.

Iran’s latest nuclear achievements were unveiled during the ceremony, including three radio-medicines as well as a nuclear fuel assembly for power reactors.

Concerning the framework agreement between Iran and six world powers, Rouhani said the joint statement was not Iran's only achievement in the nuclear talks with the P5+1 group.

He pointed out that Tehran's major gain was the fact that US President Barack Obama acknowledged that the people of Iran will not surrender to bullying, sanctions and threats.

“Our triumph is that the biggest military and economic power in the world, i.e the US and the country’s president, acknowledged the fact that the Iranian nation will never yield to pressure, sanctions and bullying,” the Iranian president pointed out.

The National Nuclear Technology Day ceremony was attended by head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali-Akbar Salehi, Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi, a number of Tehran-based foreign ambassadors, head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi, nuclear experts and a number of other Iranian officials.
