Ukrainian security forces interrupted a televised cabinet meeting Wednesday to detain two high-ranking officials on charges of corruption.

Interior Minister Arsen Avakov reportedly asked for permission from Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk to allow in security forces, who then led Sergey Bochkovskiy, head of the state emergency services, and his deputy Vasiliy Stoetskiy from the room in handcuffs on suspicion of graft involving offshore companies.

Yatsenyuk ordered a transparent investigation, calling for the suspects to appear in court as soon as possible with an indictment prepared against them.

"The country is at war and we are counting every penny, but they steal from people and the state. This fate awaits everyone who breaks the law and makes a mockery of the state," the prime minister said.
