According to state-run daily Al-Ahram, Sisi has replaced Ibrahim with Magdi Abdel-Ghaffar.

The private Shorouk newspaper also confirmed the move, without providing further details.

The move is apparently part of a cabinet reshuffle that comprises eight ministries, among them the ministries of education, agriculture, health, tourism and culture.

Ibrahim, who was originally appointed during a cabinet reshuffle in January 2013, and has been massively criticized for having a major role in Egypt’s heavy-handed crackdown on the opposition.

Rights advocates and opposition groups have been calling for Ibrahim’s dismissal since January 2015 when the leftists activist,  Shaimaa Sabbagh, was killed by security forces.
