The UN Security Council is to hold closed door consultations on Tuesday on the crisis in Yemen.

The meeting was requested by Britain following heavy clashes on Monday between the popular committees of Ansarullah movement and presidential guard in the capital Sanaa.

UN special envoy Jamal Benomar is to report to the council on the latest developments.
