Imam Khamenei to Maduro: Our Enemies Using Oil Prices as Political Weapon

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei stressed that the decline in the international crude prices is due to political objectives.

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei stressed that the decline in the international crude prices is due to political objectives.

In a meeting with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in Tehran on Saturday, Imam Khamanei said the enemies of Iran and Venezuela are using the oil as a “political weapon,” Fars news agency reported.

Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated that the sudden decline in the oil prices in such a short period of time is the result of a politicized and uneconomic move.
The supreme leader also said that the cooperation between Tehran and Caracas should be increased.

 Of course, the two countries' cooperation is not restricted to oil issues and the level of the (trade) exchanges and investments between the two countries which is less than expected should be increased."

"Iran's resolute decision is to continue and increase all-out cooperation with Venezuela," Imam Khamenei said.

His eminence also  thanked Caracas for its resistance, stances and attempts in regional and international areas, noting that Venezuela's pursuit of its causes has resulted in the awakening of many Latin American nations and the US is showing enmity towards Caracas for the same reason.

For his part, the Venezuelan president said that cooperation between OPEC member-states is taking place in order to deal with the sharp decline in oil prices.

"We are trying to work out consensus among OPEC member-states and other oil exporting countries, including Russia, to help the oil prices stand an acceptable level through cooperation and use of modern mechanisms."

Maduro meanwhile, referred to the Palestinian cause, stressing that the Venezuelan nation and government feel indebted to this causes.

"We are sure that Palestine will be liberated one day," he added.
The Venezuelan president blamed the US and its colonial policies for the oppression of the Palestinians.
