Rouhani: Materialization of Ideals Not Tied to Nuclear Centrifuges

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said materialization of ideals is not bound to nuclear centrifuges.

RouhaniIranian President Hassan Rouhani said materialization of ideals is not bound to nuclear centrifuges.

Addressing a gathering on the Iranian economy here on Sunday, he noted that economic growth has already begun but said the more important thing is continuation of this trend.

He said the country needed all-out sustainable development.

The President stressed that the country could never survive in isolation but said this does not mean that it would abandon its principles and ideals.

He said at the negotiation table, Iran never discusses its ideals and principles because negotiation is meant to build a bridge between the negotiating sides.

President Rouhani reiterated that as a result of the Geneva Agreement, parts of the sanctions on car manufacturers, petrochemical plants and shipping organizations were lifted and a portion of Iran's blocked assets were released.

If Iran decides to act more transparent and wants to temporarily halt a certain kind of nuclear enrichment which currently does not need it, it does not mean that it is forsaking its ideals and principles, President Rouhani noted.

He said the ideal of the Iranians is not tied to centrifuges but to the heart and soul of the nation.

Pointing out that the world is now experiencing a new wave of fall in oil prices, he said more exports and stronger ties with the outside world would make the country less vulnerable because of its better national security conditions.

He said this implied that exchanging water, gas and electricity with other countries will encourage foreign investors to come to Iran and Iranians to invest abroad.

President Rouhani further stressed that the arrival of foreign investors in the country will no more threaten the national security, adding that the situation is absolutely vice versa now.

President Rouhani opened the first conference of the Iranian Economy with the theme 'Strategies for Achieving Sustained Growth and Employment'.

Several Iranian ministers as well as some 1500 economic experts, university scholars and economic activists are attending the two-day gathering which is to discuss macroeconomic issues.
