Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah The office of Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah on Friday dismissed reports that he had tendered his resignation or had been sacked by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, World Bulletin news website reported.

"There is no truth to the reports being circulated by some media outlets regarding the resignation of Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah," the Palestinian government said in a statement.

It went on to urge the media to be "accurate and professional when dealing with news related to the unity government and its prime minster."

Several Palestinian media outlets recently reported that Abbas had dismissed Hamdallah following a disagreement.

On Thursday, sources from Abbas' office told media outlets that Abbas and Hamdallah had argued over an earlier dispute between the latter and leading Fatah member Azzam al-Ahmad on a Palestinian satellite channel.

Rival Palestinian factions Fatah and Hamas – the latter of which has run the Gaza Strip since 2007 – signed a reconciliation deal in April that led to the formation two months later of a national unity government.
