“A ban has been imposed on her travel,” the statement added.

According to the brief statement, the lawyer of the accused requested her release after she was arrested on alleged charges of “assaulting a female officer and a policewoman.”

Al Khawaja had arrived to see her imprisoned father, activist Abdulhadi Al Khawaja, who had been on a hunger strike since last month.

He was arrested in 2011 along with other opposition leaders over alleged charges of a foiled attempt to overthrow the government during the uprising against the ruling Al Khalifa.
