Yemeni police attacked a sit-in in airport road on Sunday, killing at least one protester and injuring at least 40 others.

Police hurled tear gas canisters and deployed water cannons against demonstrators who had camped along the road near the Interior Ministry, AFP reported.

Ansarullah movement sources said one demonstrator was shot dead as the police brutally attacked the protesters. The sources of the Huthi opposition movement added that police used tear gas against the protesters.

 Al-Masira television showed images of people being rushed into ambulances and stone-throwing demonstrators facing off against water cannon vehicles.

Other sit-ins remain in place around the capital near several other government ministries.
