Israel Likely Used Regional State Bases to Fly Drone: IRGC Commander

IRGC commander Brigadier General Hossein Salami said on Tuesday it’s likely that a regional state aided the Zionist entity in flying an unmanned spying aerial vehicle that was shot down in central Iran earlier on Sunday.

Iran’s Lieutenant Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Hossein Salami said on Tuesday it’s likely that a regional state aided the Zionist entity in flying an unmanned spying aerial vehicle that was shot down in central Iran earlier on Sunday.

The Israeli drone had taken off from a regional state close to the Iranian territory, General Salami stated, according to IRNA news agency.Brigadier General Hossein Salami

He pointed out that the drone had been traced as soon as it crossed the Iranian borders, but it was allowed to enter the country to see the intention (of the hostile forces operating it) and then it was targeted at the right time.

Asked if Iran would reverse engineer the aircraft to start its production, Salami said that Iran doesn’t need to do so ˈalthough we have the power to do soˈ, implying that technology of the Israeli drone, which was a Hermes model, does not have anything new to Iran.

The IRGC Aerospace Force shot down an Israeli spy drone before it could reach Natanz nuclear enrichment facility, in Central Iran, on Sunday.

The IRGC Public Relations Department said in a statement that the pilotless aircraft was a radar-evading, stealth drone with the mission to spy on Iranian enrichment facilities by flying over Natanz nuclear enrichment plant.
