New Gaza truce, which started on Wednesday midnight, was holding on Thursday morning after getting off to a shaky start when Israeli airplanes struck the besieged the enclave.

The Israeli army said that there had been no fighting for several hours, since Israeli air raids which targeted several areas in Khan Younis finished around 3:00 am (0000 GMT).Gaza truce

The Zionist entity claimed that its airstrikes on Gaza were in response to a number of rockets fired by the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas. However, the resistance group rejected the Israeli claim.

For its part, Hamas said Israel has committed a “gross breach” of a ceasefire.
Spokesman Fawzi Barhoum warned Israel that it would suffer the consequences of its actions after carrying out airstrikes on Gaza in violation of the ceasefire.

The Israeli army carried out the attack on Wednesday, shortly after a temporary ceasefire was extended for another five days.

The head of the Palestinian delegation to Cairo-based indirect ceasefire talks, Azzam al-Ahmad, had announced earlier that the ceasefire agreement had been reached “at the last minute.”

The extension was made after the expiration of a preliminary 72-hour ceasefire agreement between the two sides.

The Zionist entity launched the latest war against the blockaded Gaza Strip on July 7. Nearly 1,960 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have so far lost their lives and at least 10,100 have been injured in the Israeli offensive.

The Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, has been launching retaliatory attacks against Israel.
