In a statement, the army said its troops arrested 11 "wanted" Palestinians in coordination with the Shin Bet, the Zionist internal security agency.

The detainees were referred to interrogation, it added.

The Zionist military detained hundreds of Palestinians, mostly Hamas members, since the mid-June abduction and subsequent killing of three Jewish settlers in the occupied West Bank.

Meanwhile, a nine-year-old Palestinian boy was shot dead by Zionist troops during clashes in the south of the occupied West Bank, eyewitnesses and medical sources said Sunday.

Youssef al-Anati said his 11-year-old nephew, Khalil, was shot dead even though he was not taking part in the disturbances near the city of Hebron. The boy was taken to a local hospital, which said he had been hit in the back with a live bullet.

"Khalil was standing outside and at a distance some kids were throwing stones at the Israeli army," al-Anati told Reuters. "Suddenly Khalil collapsed to the ground and we rushed to him; he was all covered in blood."

Khalil al-Anati arrived in Hebron national hospital in a serious condition after being shot in the pelvis before succumbing to his wounds shortly later, a medical source at the hospital said.

According to eyewitnesses, Anati was shot during clashes that erupted between Palestinian protesters and Zionist troops at the entrance of Fawwar refugee camp, near Hebron.

The protest, the witnesses said, aimed to denounce the Israeli attacks against the Gaza Strip, which left 1918 Palestinians, mostly civilians, dead and around 10000 others wounded since July 7.
