At a news conference on Monday, Maan stressed that the Baghdad airport is safe and that flights are natural and on schedule.

The website of the Saudi TV channel had said earlier that "the area north of Baghdad International Airport has seen violent clashes, and a number of mortar shells targeted the main building of the airport.

"The airport is witnessing tight security measures and several flights have been cancelled," Al-Arabiya website added.
