Syrian Elections’ Judicial Committee Chief Denies Voting via Internet

Chief of the Syrian Higher Judicial Committee for Elections Hisham al-Shaar denied the news which circulated that the expats could possibly be using Internet to vote in presidential elections, SANA reported.

In a statement to SANA, Al-Shaar said that voters can vote by heading to one of the polling stations using his ID card, for the Syrians living inside the country, or his passport, for the Syrians abroad.

The Syrian expats who failed to cast their ballots in the vote can do so at border centers and Syrian airports where ballot boxes will be set up for this purpose, the Committee's chief said.

Three candidates are running for the presidency in Syria as a presidential election was called for June 3. The Syrian expatriates did cast their ballots last Wednesday.
