In a UNSC session on countering terrorism on Wednesday, al-Jaafari stressed the importance of compelling all member states to refrain from offering any form of support to terrorism pursuant to UNSC resolution No 1373 for the year 2001.

Al-Jaafari noted that Damascus has received no answer for the tens of letters sent to various committees on terrorism in Syria and on the possession of the armed terrorist groups of chemical weapons as well as the involvement of some regional countries in this issue, official news agency, SANA, reported on Thursday.

Al-Jaafari clarified that Syria and tens of other member states such as Iraq, Lebanon, Egypt, Libya, Yemen, Russia, China, Kenya, Nigeria, Pakistan and others have witnessed brutal terrorist acts since the past six months of the most recent briefing of the three counterterrorism subcommittees' chairpersons.
