Terrorist Mortar Attacks Kill 5 Civilians in Syria, Leaves Others Wounded

Terrorists fired a barrage of mortar shells against the Syrian capital on Tuesday.

Syria: Mortar attack on DamascusTerrorists fired a barrage of mortar shells against the Syrian capital on Tuesday, hitting various residential areas and neighborhoods and causing casualties among civilians, SANA news agency reported.

Three mortar shells fell around al-Najmeh Square, one of them hitting a house, claiming the life of a Lebanese man and injuring 21, with a source at al-Muwasat Hospital saying that they received the body of the Lebanese victim and 17 others injured civilians, three of them children were under ten years old.

One shell struck a house opposite Dar al-Salam School, causing a fire and demolishing part of a wall. A six-months-old girl and her grandparents miraculously survived the attack, while a fire truck driver was injured when another shell landed in the street while firefighters were putting out the flames.

A shell which smashed into a house at the intersection near the French Hospital in al-Qassaa area, injuring nine civilians and causing considerable damage to the house.

Two shells landed on Usama Ben Zeid Mosque and near Mazzeh Cemetery in Sheikh Saad area, punching a hole in the mosque's dome and damaging a window. Two more shells fell in plant nurseries behind al-Muwasat Hospital, and one in Shora area in al-Mhajereen, causing material damage without hurting anyone.

Meanwhile, a number of mortar rounds hit the residential areas of al-Salheiyeh, al-Tajheez, Arnous Square, and near al-Hassan Mosque, causing material damage but no injuries.

Moreover, four civilians were reported wounded as 3 shells struck houses in separate neighborhoods on Mhardeh city of Hama province.

Two children also got injured by a mortar round that landed in Helfaia town.

Four more civilians were killed and 30 others injured after terrorists launched mortar shells on Saadallah al-Jaberi Square and al-Jamiliyeh neighborhood in Aleppo city, according to a source at the Governorate.
