He stressed the expansion of ties between Tehran and Riyadh at different levels, saying it would not only benefit the two countries, but also bring about improved relations among other Muslim states.

Rafsanjani also regretted that potentials of the Muslim world have not been tapped for the benefit of world Muslims.

He underlined the need for laying out a criterion for Muslim world cooperation, and warned that disputes would give rise to the regional insecurity and wasting the Islamic world’s potentials.

For his part, the Saudi envoy referred to the abundant cultural and historical common grounds as what bonds the two Muslim countries.

He praised the foreign policy of President Hasan Rouhani, saying this policy has had positive effects in Saudi Arabia and other Muslim countries.
