Hezbollah slams UN chief report as unjust and biased towards Israel
Hezbollah slammed on Thursday UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon’s report over the implementation of Security Council Resolution 1559 as unjust and biased toward Israel and accused him of justifying Israel’s crimes and terrorist practices.
"It is not something new for the UN secretary general to take unjust and unfair stances in his analysis of the situation in Lebanon, especially in terms of holding Hezbollah responsible for all the problems in Lebanon," the Resistance party said in a communiqué.
Hezbollah said that this is the nature of the mission assigned to Ban by the US administration and some Western governments, and noted that the UN chief is carrying out the mission very precisely instead of performing his role in achieving security and peace in the world.
The statement noted that the latest stance made by the UN secretary general clearly shows that he blatantly stands among the ranks of Zionists aggressing against Lebanon’s stability and security, and justifies their crimes and terrorist acts while condemning Lebanon’s efforts to preserve its strength and immunity against the flagrant aggression.
Hezbollah noted that Ban is relying in his accusations on reports written by Terje Roed-Larsen, UN Secretary-General's envoy on the implementation of Security Council Resolution 1559. The statement described the latter as the international official in service of the Zionist media structure, which reflects his complete animosity against the Resistance, Lebanon, Arabs and all the just causes in the world.
The Resistance party concluded its statement by vowing to continue to protect Lebanon and preserve its dignity according to the golden army-people-Resistance formula, which confirms the role of the army, people and resistance in the face of Zionist increasing aggressions against Lebanon and the region.
Earlier, member of the Loyalty to the Resistance parliamentary bloc MP Hussein Moussawi issued a statement in which he said he was not surprised by Ban Ki-moon's statements, because the latter is part of the American-Zionist alliance which has always targeted the resistance people.
He said that such reports constitute an aggression against the people’s right in resisting the occupation and achieve the full independence, and accused the UN chief of attempting to incite sedition among the Lebanese and to support Israel's hostility and cover up its crimes.
The Hezbollah lawmaker reminded the UN secretary general that the Resistance arms were necessitated by the Israeli aggression against Lebanon and the violation of the country's land by the racist, usurper Zionist entity since 1948. He also paid Ban’s attention to the fact that this entity is still until this moment violating Lebanon’s airspace, water and land, “while the successive UN chiefs – and you are one of them – have stood idly by in the face of aggressions and occupations.”
Addressing Ban, Moussawi concluded his statement by saying: “Enough of your injustice and unfairness. Enough plots against Palestine and Al-Quds. Enough of your submission to the American tyrant and the Zionist criminal.”
