Russia FM: Washington’s Threats to Use Force against Syria ’Unacceptable’

Russia: Foreign MinistryRussian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Alexander Ukashević said Friday that Washington's threats to use force against Syria is unacceptable.

"Washington's statements which threatens the use of force against Syria is unacceptable," a statement issued by Ukashević, commenting on the recent statements by President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry, said.

"Rather than implementing the G8 decisions made up in Loch Warren and conventions that followed to provide the investigators report on possible cases regarding the use of chemical weapons in Syria to the UN Security Council , amid the absence of any evidence , threats to strike Syria are launched," it added.

"In these circumstances, even U.S. allies are inviting it to be patient and wait until the end of the UN experts' work in order to get an objective view of what happened and determine the next steps with regard to the Syrian crisis. This is the position taken by the Secretary - General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon days ago," the statement added.

"Any military operation without authorization from the UN Security Council , no matter how limited, will constitute a direct violation of the international law, will cancel the prospects for a political and diplomatic solution for the conflict in Syria and will lead to a new escalation of confrontation and more casualties."

"Therefore, this shouldn't be allowed," the Russian foreign ministry stressed.
