Kremlin denied Friday that President Vladimir Putin had discussed a deal with the visiting Saudi intelligence chief for Moscow to sell arms to Riyadh in exchange for changing its position on Syria.

"Concrete questions about military cooperation were not discussed" at the July 31 meeting, said Putin's top foreign policy aide Yury Ushakov, quoted by Russian news agencies. "Putin did not discuss deals," he added.

Media outlets have already reported that Moscow rejected Saudi offer to abandon Syria regime for arms deal.

"Moscow has said 'no' to a Saudi proposal to drop the Syrian government in exchange of a rich arms deal   and protection of Russia’s gas interests in the Middle East," media reports mentioned.
