Sheikh Qassem Rejects Politicization of Constitutional Council

14/07/2009 Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem received on Tuesday former MP Hasan Yaacoub and discussed with him the contestation the latter has submitted against the deputyship of MP Ouqab Saqr, his rival in the latest parliamentary elections.
 
After being informed about the details of the contestation, Sheikh Qassem expressed hope that the Constitutional Council would behave in a responsible and objective manner and remain far removed from any form of politicization.
 
"When the opposition agreed to follow up on the issue of the election outcome as is, and that includes the right to contest, it did so to only to provide the example for making this experience a success," his eminence emphasized.

Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General went on to add that from a legal point of view, the Constitutional Council should do its job as per the applied legal balances. "We want nothing but the law," his eminence concluded.
