25/05/2009 One day after warning against the "game of nations" and urging Lebanese to be cautious of rumors and press leaks that could provoke discord and sedition, the head of the Democratic Gathering MP Walid Jumblatt renewed his rejection to the report published in the German daily Der Spiegel as "Ain al-Remmane Bus 2," in a reference to the bus incident that caused the launch of the Lebanese war in 1975. Speaking to Lebanese daily As-Safir, Jumblatt said that the Der Spiegel report concerning an alleged "involvement" of Hezbollah in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri serves the same purpose as the Ain al-Remmaneh bus and might be even more dangerous, warning against any Lebanese group seeking to profit from it. The Progressive Socialist Party (PSP) leader called on Lebanese not to fall in the "sedition trap," emphasizing that the Israeli fingerprints were obviously clear in the Der Spiegel report. He recalled that the Zionist lobby was too powerful within the German press. Jumblatt also said that the Israeli-fabricated scenario published in Der Spiegel also seeks to cover the discovery of Israeli Mossad-linked cells in Lebanon. "Everyone is preoccupied nowadays with the elections," Jumblatt said, adding that "the elections might, however, become secondary if compared to the seriousness of what's happening." The Lebanese MP warned all Lebanese parties against seeking to exploit the report, stressing that he condemns any exploitation "no matter who would be behind it."
